Welcome to KM & D Ltd., a shipping and insurance company with a strong foundation and a wealth of experience. Founded in December 1998 by Capt Mladen Mihaylov, we have been dedicated to serving the maritime industry for over two decades.

Capt Mladen Mihaylov brings a vast background as a captain of general cargo ships and tankers, having navigated the seas from 1971 until 1983 and again from 1990 until 1994. Drawing upon his extensive knowledge gained from years at sea, he transitioned into a managerial role as the fleet manager for Navibulgar’s tanker fleet from 1983 to 1986. Following that, he represented Navibulgar in Novorossiysk, Russia, from 1986 to 1990. With a unique combination of sea and shore experience, Capt Mihaylov assembled a strong team at KM & D Ltd.

In 2003, Yuri Stankov joined our team as a cadet, injecting fresh energy and dedication into our operations. Over the years, Yuri Stankov’s role expanded significantly. In 2008, he became the Procurator of KM & D Ltd., assuming greater responsibility within the company. Continuing his professional development, he completed studies in Insurance Management in Svishtov and obtained a diploma from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in London by 2010. Since 2014, Yuri Stankov has been serving as the General Manager of KM & D Ltd.

Initially, the company managed several dry cargo vessels from 1998 to 2002, providing the Shipowner with the following services: chartering, supply, agency, crew manning, technical management and marine insurance.

Based on the experience gained in operating the fleet, as well as the knowledge gained in processing marine insurance claims, our company specializes in marine insurance. In 2005, KM & D Ltd. received an insurance broker’s license from the Financial Supervision Commission, which strengthened our position in the insurance industry. With a team of general and marine insurance experts, we are well equipped to provide a wide range of insurance services tailored to our clients’ needs.

Recognizing the growing demand for superyacht services, KM & D Ltd. expanded its offerings to include services for superyachts in Bulgarian Yacht Marinas starting in 2020. We strive to provide comprehensive solutions and exceptional customer service to yacht owners and operators in the region.
